wya shows your friends which bar you're at on nights out. Because that involves your location, this page explains exactly what we collect and when.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, name and username. If you sign in with Apple or Google, that company shares your name and email with us.
• Location: your phone's position while sharing is active, as described below.
• Connections: who you've connected with, requested, removed or blocked.
• Things you add: such as cover price reports for a bar, and any report you make about another person.

When your location is shared

• Sharing only runs Thursday to Saturday, from 10pm to 3am New York time.
• Only friends you've both accepted can see you, and neither of you can have blocked the other.
• You can go dark at any time, and you're hidden right away.
• Your home zone stays on your phone. It never reaches our servers, and your phone stops sending your location near it.
• "Your usual neighborhoods" also stay on your phone.

How long we keep it

• Positions: deleted automatically shortly after each 3am cutoff. We don't keep a history of where you've been.
• Account: kept until you delete it. Deleting hides you from everyone right away, and your account is permanently removed 30 days later.
• Cover price reports: deleted automatically after 28 days, or sooner if a newer report replaces them. If you delete your account first, they stay without your name until then.
• Reports about other people: kept after your account is deleted, but without your name. Reports about you are deleted with your account.

Who handles your data

We don't sell your data and we don't show ads. We use these service providers to run wya:

• Supabase, for our database and sign-in.
• Resend, to send sign-in emails.
• Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps on Android, to display the map.
• Apple and Google, if you use them to sign in.

Your choices

You can go dark, change who you're connected to, or delete your account in the app's settings. You can also turn off location for wya in your phone's settings. To ask about your data, email help@trywya.com.

wya is for people 18 and older.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
